New release: From Zenith Watches The CHRONOMASTER Revival A386 Manufacture Edition 03.Z386.400/60.C843

Zenith Watches The CHRONOMASTER Revival A386 Manufacture Edition 03.Z386.400/60.C843

Zenith releases the new shades of blue dial for the reference A386 model that was only in precious metals before now available in stainless steel. This has to be one of the most soothing to the eye color combo dials I have seen for a while. Zenith keeps digging through the infamous attic at their headquarters finding new/old treasures. We at Watch Noble are excited about the release and believe it will sell well. Listed below is the information provided by Zenith.

“CHRONOMASTER Revival A386 Manufacture Edition

Dial inspired by vintage prototypes never released and found in the Attic of the Manufacture Exclusive Manufacture Edition Original 1969 case with 38 mm diameter Automatic El Primero column-wheel chronograph

Ref 03.Z386.400/60.C843

SHADES OF BLUE

For its first Manufacture Edition, exclusively available on our online store and to those who visit the Manufacture in Le Locle, Zenith is revisiting a secret part of the El Primero story and the first watches that were equipped with it. Housed in a steel case that mimics the proportions and finishes of the A386 from 1969, the signature tri-color dial is inspired by a previously unknown prototype with three shades of blue for the chronograph counters.

THE SECRET ATTIC

The Chronomaster Manufacture Edition is inspired by a prototype dial for the A386 from 1969, which was never produced - until now. During the 50th anniversary of the El primero, a small box was found in the secret attic where Charles Vermot had hid the tools and plans needed to produce the El Primero calibre. Within it were a number of dials, including a previously unknown iteration of the A386's iconic tri-color dial, using three different shades of blue.

MOVEMENT

Just like the original A386 from 1969, the Chronomaster Manufacture Edition is equipped with the venerable El Primero calibre, the world's first automatic high-frequency chronograph movement. Beating at 36'000 VpH (5 Hz) and delivering a power reserve of minimum 50 hours, the El Primero is as exceptional among chronograph calibres today as it was when first launched over 50 years ago.”

The Sherlock Holmes for watches

Check out this interesting article by GQ magazine. It begins with the theft of a watch and then follows its journey from place to place until one man begins a investigation to hunt it down. The story starts out with the owner of the watch being followed inside the department store with family in tow only to get it snatched of his wrist when he exits onto the street. From here it begins its journey around the world.

New Release Zenith presents its first watch based on a Japanese manga, the “A384 Revival Lupin The Third Edition”.

(Press Release) Zenith presents its first watch based on a Japanese manga, the “A384 Revival Lupin The Third Edition”.

Zenith “Lupid The Third” New Release of only 50 Pcs for the Japanese Market

Zenith “Lupid The Third” New Release of only 50 Pcs for the Japanese Market

With the release of the A384 Revival this year to mark the 50th anniversary of the El Primero calibre, the opportunity to finally create the watch depicted in the Japanese manga and anime series Lupin the Third presented itself to Zenith. Limited to 50 pieces, the A384 Lupin The Third Edition is Japan-exclusive. This collaboration marks the first time that a Zenith watch has been made based on a manga and anime series.

The year of 1969 saw the launch of the El Primero calibre and the first watch to be equipped with it, the A384. Two years later, the first anime series of the popular manga Lupin the Third begin airing, and was an instant hit domestically in Japan, and later across the world. One of the main characters in the story, Mr. Daisuke Jigen, a debonair partner of the main protagonist Lupin, is depicted wearing a Zenith watch on two occasions of first episode of the first anime TV series. Inspired by the A384, the watch shown in the animated series didn’t actually exist – until now.

Using the blue prints and production plans of the original A384, Zenith was able to recreate the uniquely shaped 37mm stainless steel case through a reverse engineering process. The end result is virtually identical to the original from 1969 – right down to the pump-style pushers and crown. The steel case back with a sapphire crystal features a printed silhouette of Mr Jigen in his typical hat tipping, effortlessly cool stance, that fans of the series would instantly recognize.

With only a brief illustration of Jigen’s watch from the animated series of Lupin the Third, the teams at Zenith worked on bringing the fictional dial to life. The matte black dial features contrasting grey chronograph counters and tachymeter scale, with golden hands and applied markers completing the look. Creamy beige SuperLuminova fills the hands and applied markers in a way that blends with the golden tones while giving a slightly aged appearance.

The A384 Revival Lupin The Third Edition comes in a special presentation box, where the outer box features a mosaic of images from the anime series, while the inner box is emblazoned with a silhouette of Jigen and a stylized logo of Lupin the Third designed by Zenith.
